Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your use of the Metora mobile application.

By downloading, purchasing, accessing, or using Metora, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Metora

Metora is a photo privacy utility designed to inspect and remove metadata embedded in image files.

Depending on the image, metadata may include GPS location, capture date and time, camera information, EXIF data, IPTC data, XMP data, and other embedded information.

2. License

Subject to these Terms and Apple's applicable terms, you are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Metora on devices that you own or control.

You do not acquire ownership of Metora, its software, branding, design, or intellectual property.

3. Your Photos

You retain all rights to photos and files that you process using Metora.

Metora does not claim ownership of your photos.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right or permission to process any photo or file that you select.

4. Metadata Removal

Metora is designed to detect and remove supported metadata from image files.

Different file formats, malformed files, unsupported metadata, operating-system behavior, third-party applications, or future technical changes may affect results.

You should not assume that every possible piece of identifying information has been removed solely because a photo was processed by Metora.

Where privacy or confidentiality is particularly important, you should verify the resulting file before distributing it.

5. Privacy Limitations

Removing GPS and metadata can reduce hidden information contained in a photo, but it does not make the visible contents of the photo anonymous.

A photo itself may still reveal people, addresses, landmarks, documents, license plates, reflections, or other identifying information.

Metora does not guarantee that a processed image cannot be used to identify a person or location.

6. Purchases

Some Metora features may require an In-App Purchase.

Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms and policies.

The applicable price and purchase type are displayed before you complete a transaction.

Where Metora offers a one-time or lifetime purchase, the purchase provides access to the applicable paid functionality for as long as that functionality continues to be offered as part of Metora.

It does not guarantee that Metora, the App Store, an operating system, or any particular feature will exist indefinitely.

7. RevenueCat

Metora uses RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage access to paid functionality.

Purchase-related functionality may involve communication between Metora, Apple, and RevenueCat.

8. No Account Required

Metora does not currently require a Metora account.

The ability to restore an eligible purchase may depend on Apple, the Apple account used for the transaction, and App Store functionality.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use Metora for unlawful purposes
• Interfere with the normal operation or security of the app
• Attempt to bypass payment or purchase validation systems
• Use the app in a way that infringes another person's rights
• Copy, redistribute, or modify the app except where permitted by law
• Misrepresent Metora as a product or service created or endorsed by you

10. Updates and Changes

Metora may be updated from time to time to add or remove functionality, improve compatibility, fix bugs, improve security, or comply with legal and App Store requirements.

We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available permanently.

11. Availability

We aim to keep Metora available and functional, but uninterrupted or error-free operation is not guaranteed.

Features may become unavailable because of technical issues, third-party changes, legal requirements, maintenance, or discontinuation.

12. Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Metora is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We do not guarantee that:

• Every possible type of metadata will always be detected
• Every possible type of metadata will always be removed
• Processing will succeed for every file
• The app will always be free of bugs or errors
• A processed photo will be completely anonymous
• Use of Metora will eliminate every privacy risk

Nothing in these Terms excludes consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses resulting from use of or inability to use Metora.

This may include losses resulting from metadata that remains in a file, loss or corruption of files, incompatibility with another service, or reliance on information displayed by the app.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

14. Backups

You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important photos and files.

Metora should not be used as your sole storage or backup solution.

15. Intellectual Property

Metora, including its software, interface, branding, graphics, design, and original content, is owned by or licensed to Fodeo.

16. Apple

If Metora is downloaded through Apple's App Store, these Terms are between you and us, not Apple.

Your use of Metora must also comply with applicable App Store terms and usage rules.

Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for Metora, except where required by applicable law.

17. Termination

You may stop using Metora at any time by deleting the app.

Access may be restricted where reasonably necessary because of fraud, abuse, security threats, legal requirements, or violations of these Terms.

18. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated when Metora, third-party services, business practices, or legal requirements change.

The latest version will display an updated effective date.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights that may apply in the country where you live.
